    Vehicle Tips

According to recent studies, 5 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities are clearly caused by automobile maintenance neglect.

The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of coolant should be checked. (A 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water is usually recommended.)

Never remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled. The tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps and hoses should be checked by a pro.

Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual, or more often (every 3,000 miles) if you make frequent short jaunts, extended trips with lots of luggage or tow a trailer.

Replace other filters (air, fuel, PCV, etc.) as recommended, or more often in dusty conditions. Get engine drivability problems (hard stops, rough idling, stalling, diminished power, etc.) corrected at a good shop.

A dirty windshield causes eye fatigue and can pose a safety hazard. Replace worn blades and get plenty of windshield washer solvent.

Have your tires rotated about every 5,000 miles. Check tire pressures once a month; let the tires cool down first. Don't forget your spare and be sure your jack is in good condition.

Check your owner's manual to find out what fuel octane rating your car's engine needs then buy it.

Keep your tires inflated to the proper levels. Under-inflated tires make it harder for your car to move down the road, which means your engine uses more fuel to maintain speed.

Lighten the load. Heavier vehicles use more fuel, so clean out unnecessary weight in the passenger compartment or trunk before you hit the road.

Use the A/C sparingly. The air conditioner puts extra load on the engine forcing more fuel to be used.

Keep your windows closed. Wide-open windows, especially at highway speeds, increase aerodynamic drag and the result is up to a 10% decrease in fuel economy.

Avoid long idling. If you anticipate being stopped for more than one minute, shut off the car. Contrary to popular belief, restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle.

Stay within posted speed limits. The faster you drive, the more fuel you use. For example, driving at 65 miles per hour (mph) rather than 55 mph, increases fuel consumption by 20 percent.

Use cruise control. Using cruise control on highway trips can help you maintain a constant speed and, in most cases, reduce your fuel consumption.

Keep your engine tuned. A fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30 percent.

Inspect the engine's belts regularly. Look for cracks or missing sections or segments. Worn belts will affect the engine performance.

Have the fuel filter changed every 10,000 miles to prevent rust, dirt and other impurities from entering the fuel system.

Change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 to 18,000 miles. This will protect the precision-crafted components of the transmission/transaxle.

Inspect the suspension system regularly. This will extend the life of the vehicle's tires.

    What Our Customers

    Are Saying

I recently had the folks at Arden Village Service save me A TON of money. I was in the process of purchasing a used car from a private party, and had them give it a Prepurchase Inspection. Setting the appointment was easy and they were able to accommodate me sooner than I expected. So, 15 minutes into the inspection I get a call informing me of specific deal breaker items that were observed as soon as the car got on the lift. This $120 job saved me thousands. But then, another thing happened, I didn't even get billed! Even more $$ in my pocket. I'll be calling Arden first for any automotive items in the future. Proactive, upfront, no-nonsense people over there.

Sometimes it can be intimidating, as a woman, asking for car help. You just never know if someone is taking advantage of you. My car started acting up after the dealer replaced my faulty airbag. I tried to explain to the dealer that the problems occurred after the replacement work was done but I was sent away. I was told it was just a coincidence. So I decided to take my car to AVS because of all the 5 star reviews online. That was the best choice I could've made. They are a busy shop which only proved to me that a lot of people trusted them with repairing their cars. Long story short, AVS was able to diagnose the problems with my car and they were in fact due to the dealership's shoddy work. Adam was excellent. He let me know that I needed to take my car back to the dealer and provided me with a letter to give to them explaining their findings. Upon receiving the letter, the dealer agreed to fix my car and gave me a rental at no charge. Adam has been assisting me through this entire process. I've called him multiple times and he makes the time to answer all my questions. He's patient, honest, respectful, professional and I am just so grateful for everything he's done.
My family has been using their service since 1973, always reliable, fair prices, great service and quick turn around.
For many years I took my vehicles to Car Care Center. A few years ago they notified me they were closing their shop, and recommended Arden Village Service. I highly recommend this facility, and have done so with family and friends. Integrity, honesty and friendly service has been my experience at AVS.
Honest, thorough, dependable, friendly, and courteous. I've been taking my cars there for many years and I have never been disappointed. They are the best!
Our family LOVES Scotts Corner because they are so honest! We took one of our cars in today for an oil change and an inspection of the brakes. We were told that brakes were not needed. We still had 70% on the rear brakes and 50% on the front. Wow!! NO AUTO DEALER WOULD EVER SAY THAT! We can ALWAYS trust Scotts Corner! Now we are taking all four of our cars there!
We take all our vehicles there. Always recommend to others looking for good old fashion honest service.
I have been having Randy and his crew service all my cars for many years and always have been so pleased with their work, their attitude, their prices, and especially their personal 'real' concern and caring for all their customers. Randy, the "big boss" is the best!
Your car repair problems are over if you go to Arden Village Service Center. I have taken my vehicle there for 8 or 9 years. I have always received courteous, competent, reliable, and honest service. A couple of years ago I wanted a complete checkout of my car. I made the appointment and explained what I wanted. I have that much trust in the integrity of this shop and the personnel. Call for your appointment today.
Arden Village Service has "saved my bacon" a number of times. They are not only quite professional, in addition they are honest and reliable. I grew up in the day when there were full service gas stations and gas was 35 cents a gallon. Arden Village also provides friendly gas service, and their maintenance and repair services are cost effective. I am very pleased with them and give them the highest rating available.
I just had repairs done for the first time at Arden Village Service and the experience was fantastic! Adam initially took my appointment over the phone and then my main point of contact during service was Amber. She did an excellent job keeping me updated on the status of my car, helping to keep the bill as low as possible and thoroughly explaining the breakdown of my bill and all the work & parts necessary. Unfortunately I don't know the name of the technician who performed the work, but let him know there's a huge improvement in how my car runs, and the quality of craftsmanship is excellent. I didn't even find a trace of grease or dirt left inside the car after the work was done, yet another sign of quality! This shop is now #1 on my list for repair & maintenance needs on both of our vehicles. Thanks again!
Trustworthy. Fair. Compassionate. I am 100 percent confident that you will fix my car for a fair price in a timely manner.
    Scott's service is the best.
Dealing with Arden Village Service is always a positive experience, and I am completely amazed at how they maintain their professionalism as each repair or visit is always dealt with the highest integrity. Their main service writer, Adam Tinsman (sp) is simply a pleasure to deal with. They are a model of what a good service experience should be about, and highly recommend them to anyone who has any upcoming maintenance or repair and wants to know they were treated fairly and honestly.
I was out to dinner with some friends the other night and as we parted ways, one of them looked at my truck & said, "Your registration's broken!" Sure enough, it had apparently been expired since August ~ OOPS ~ so this morning I ran to DMV, where I got to pay penalties & was told I needed a smog test ~ boo! That's when I jumped back in my truck (now with a 1-day operating permit - haha) and searched "smog check" on Yelp. After reading a few reviews, here's what I liked: -Helpful -Friendly -Family owned -Reasonably priced I pulled up & it was clear the place was busy. I heard the service manager telling the customer in front of me that they were extremely busy today, and could they offer her a ride home? I started getting nervous, thinking this might really turn into an ordeal. When it was my turn, I told him what I needed & he said he could do a smog check within about 45 minutes. Phew! No problem, I had brought a good book. While I was waiting and reading (sort of) I observed a few things that told me I'd use this place again: -some of the other customers were clearly "regulars", and the staff new them by name -the staff spoke kindly to their customers & with respect & courtesy -when the receptionist answered the phone, she was kind & soft-spoken, never short or rude -they addressed each customer as they came in & were fast at getting people checked in and out About 20 minutes later, the cashier said I was ready to go, in roughly half the time I thought it would take. Awesome! Thanks Arden Village Service!!! I'll be back!
We love the place! We are happy with the hours and the service. We are also pleased with how Steve showed us what he was working on and treated us with respect and people intelligent enough to understand what he was saying. Thanks guys we're coming back!
When I take my car to Arden Village Service, I am always confident they will do the work right and charge me a fair price.
I drive from Elk Grove to Arden Village, Because as a Woman I know i can trust the service and quality of both the repairs and The team. I never feel I'm asking silly or too many questions, and in fact I've learned to be a better car owner thru the knowledge of Steven and the Team. I'm faithful to this shop because i get honest, quality and affordable service by very professional and knowledgeable mechanics. I wouldn't take my precious car anywhere else. and that's a fact. You guys are awesome!!
Arden Village Service is the only Automotive shop I would take my vehicles to. They have integrity, honesty, they do quality work, and their prices are honest and fair. Their technicians are very skilled and they can diagnose and repair even difficult to diagnose jobs. Recently, we took in my daughters car because her A/C was not working. It turns out the problem with the A/C was not a common problem, but with Arden Village's expertise, they got the job done and the A/C works beautifully. Once I had a nail in my tire, and they fixed it for free. We've been taking all of our family's vehicles to Arden Village Service for several years. We've always been very happy with all that they've done to keep our cars running well and safe. I especially appreciate their positive "go the extra mile for their customers" attitude and friendly smiles.
Not a lot of shops that are around like this! I would say it is reminescent of the 60's where people are honest. These are honest people, please give them your business. you will not regret it!! I brought my Hi End car which is a 93 Corvette in to have the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets replaced. I thought I would be paying at least $1500, but I nearly had a heart attack when the price was half. Robert and the other mechanics are knowledgeable as well the owner who cares about his customers. As Arnold schwarzznegger put it: I WILL BE BACK! THANKS GUYS!
